Musculation : Les muscles vaste interne |
|
The vastus medialis, with the vastus lateralis, the femoris and the rectus femoris, is part of the muscular group of the quadriceps. The vastus medialis is the deepest muscle of the quadriceps. Quads are powerful and very voluminous muscles that permit the complete extension of the leg on the thigh (movement that consists in stretching the leg). The vastus medialis is attached to the rear interior part of the thighbone (bone of the thigh) and ends by a tendon common to the three other muscles: the patellar tendon that fixes on the tibia (bone of the leg). When the knee is bent, the vastus medialis permits the internal rotation of the leg (movement that consists in bringing the foot inward). If the knee is stretched, it reinforces the ligaments of the knee and thus becomes an active ligament. © BODYPLANET 1998 - 2008
